Why did you start Dynavyte? (as answered by Phoebe Turkington COO Dynavyte)

We started Dynavyte when we found that certain products we needed for our horses were not on the market and were not even thought of.

 Our eldest daughter Romy, competed in Interschool Equestrian, and was Captain of her Schools’ Equestrian team. She represented at State Level at the Interschool Nationals.

 At one Event a competitor’s horse was showing extreme travel sickness and not expected to survive overnight. A veterinary from Perth whose children were also competing, administered a “home brew” throughout the night to the sick horse.

 The next day we were all surprised to see the girl leading her recovered horse while it grazed happily in the sunshine!

 We negotiated and took up the “home brew” recipe and produced it commercially and Dynavyte MBS was born. It has been improved and tweaked since then.

 What made you become so passionate about horses?

 I was born with a love of horses, an “affliction” that takes hold of many young girls! However living in a busy Capital City I had to leave my riding to country holidays with relatives.

 My Godmother raced horses with her father which gave me an interest in the track and equines, which I could indulge in the City. She even won a Sydney Cup!

 My husband of thirty years, Gary,  was a fourth generation stud master on his family property which exclusively bred racehorses for 110 years, so he was really “born into” horsemanship.

 The skills he inherited in horse husbandry, handling and care are second to none. And he was always looking at ways to improve the welfare of his valuable animals.

 What makes you the proudest of your brand?

 That we produce natural products that really work. No bull…t, chemicals or gimmicks.

 We wouldn’t have bothered to create a brand except that we came across and developed nutraceuticals that we felt we had to share.

 The last thing we saw ourselves as, was a company that manufactured and sold equine supplements. We were used to selling horses …

 However we had many enquiries as to how we produced such beautiful, polished and calm thoroughbred yearling horses, the lack of OCD’s in our stock, and our general success as stud masters.

What do you think is Dynavyte’s BIGGEST benefit?

 Our work in the gut health field is second to none.

 We were talking about the microbiome long before it became accepted mainstream terminology.

 We have recognised and pioneered the gut as the second brain for horses, and all the benefits associated with keeping that healthy.

 It used to be “no hoof no horse”, we have found it to be “no gut no horse”, with even hoof health dependant on good guts.

 Why do you think Australian horse’s can benefit from your products?

 Our products stand for Balance, Synergy, Sustainable Wellness and Animal Welfare. That’s a pretty powerful mission statement.

 There is not an Australian horse that cannot benefit from our holistic, natural approach.

 It’s all about getting back to the real basics of what an animal wants and needs.

What is your favourite product in the range and why? (perhaps you can give me a few I’m more looking for inspiration when writing about the products)

 All our products are special, otherwise we wouldn’t have developed them.

 Each one addresses a need that we have identified in natural horse welfare.

 I do have a particular admiration for our Microbiome Support. In the early days it was so hard to develop to the commercial standard it is now. You have no idea how many vats, containers and trucks we blew up to get it right and to then transport it to market.

 A “live” brew can be so unpredictable in this way, and our scientist’s pushed the formula to its absolute limits and stability to get the best benefit for horses!

What do you think people need to know about the brand/products?

 That we are a family business, that manufactures with another family business. Two multigenerational dynasties if you like! Backed with experience and scientific qualifications.

 We do it for the love of it, not because we have to. We are not corporates or multi-nationals, just little people trying to make a difference in the animal world.

 We’re not into rocket science, chemicals or synthetics.

 We care about our earth and our horses, it’s as simple as that …
